Job description

OPTIMUM is looking for a civil / geotechnical engineer to support the company’s growth. The position combines both office work and on-site work: drafting geotechnical studies and developing projects on the one hand, as well as monitoring the construction phase onsite on the other.

Tasks

The selected candidate will work within a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced team. His/her mission will be:

 

  1. Preparation and drafting geotechnical studies

Determine the feasibility of trenchless crossing projects:

  • Visit potential job sites in France and/or abroad
  • Carry out bibliographic research
  • Establish a geotechnical model based on documents provided by the client and other relevant information (maps, literature, etc.)
  • Monitor geological investigations (in situ and laboratory)
  • Carry out calculations if necessary
  • Participate in study writing and client presentations

 

  1. Preparation and monitoring of construction sites

Monitor construction sites assisting the Project Owner or the works contractors, in France or abroad, to contribute to smooth project execution:

  • Validate initial project documentation from the works contractors and ensure compliance with construction standards and the Project Owner’s order
  • Visit the job site regularly to check the work and materials being used to ensure compliance
  • Participate in and possibly lead site meetings and ensure effective monitoring of operations, noting any deviations arising
  • Take measures, analyse, and integrate the job site data / logs into the OPTIMUM database
  • Verify that any corrective measures are implemented according to defined procedures
  • Establish and monitor work schedules
  • Draft site visit reports

Qualifications and skills required

  • Engineering graduate (civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, geology)
  • 5 years professional experience
  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD 2D
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Written and spoken English
  • Driver’s license
  • Ability to summarize, attention to detail and independent working
